    An Introduction

Hi there! You found my first blog post.

Fair warning to those that know me or know of me, this is a place to “geek out” about fantasy, writing, art, and The Diviner’s Son. Passion makes us all a little bit embarrassing.

For the past several years, I’ve been writing a fantasy novel called The Diviner’s Son. I started this passion project in high school, and four years later, I am nearly done with college. I graduate May 2025 with a degree in Marketing: Advertising and Promotion from Missouri State University. While I adore marketing, this blog isn’t centered around the topic. But I encourage you to check out my Intergrated Marketing Communications portfolio!

Progress for The Diviner’s Son has not been linear; in fact, I encountered countless plateaus.

Unsurprisingly, as I write create this very first blog post, I am on a seemingly endless plateau. Mental health is quite the serial killer of passion, motivation, and fun. There are millions of file folder graveyards full of its victims. The Diviner’s Son is not dead. It’s bobbing in and out of consciousness in a dreary hospital room. While I am reluctant to visit, I’m happy to send copious “get well” gifts.

What does that mean for my passion project? Passion is typically considered an organic, from-the-heart feeling. But I think you can manufacture passion with stubbornness and persistence. There isn’t a single day that I don’t think about my story. I fall asleep every night rehashing the plot or fantasizing a never-to-be-written off shoot of the story. I force the story into every other activity I enjoy.

So, this blog is another attempt at manufacturing passion (or conjuring passion, depending on your point of view). A culmination of metaphorical “get well” gifts.

Enough chit-chat. If you’re interested in learning more about all things The Diviner’s Son, please subscribe!
